Albany Times Union Urges APA: Don’t Hurt Lake George

April 13, 2022

The Albany Times Union newspaper joined the chorus of voices urging the Adirondack Park Agency and Lake George Park Commission to halt plans to use a toxic chemical herbicide on the Lake.

In its April 13 editorial, the paper wrote, “There is no emergency that requires such a controversial and potentially consequential action — in a lake in which herbicides have never been allowed, no less. And there are a host of reasons to give this idea much more thorough study.” The paper asked the Park Commission “to engage with the Lake George Association and local university programs specializing in water quality issues,” and reminded its readers, “New York has a history of putting things in its waters only to regret it years later.”
