Funding local projects to protect the Lake George Watershed.
The Lake Impact Fund (LIF) was established by the Lake George Association in 2024 to help residents, municipalities, businesses, and other organizations take meaningful action to protect and enhance the Lake George Watershed.
Through targeted grant opportunities, the Fund supports projects that reduce nutrient and pollutant loading, prevent the spread of invasive species, improve water quality, and promote sustainable land use practices.
What We Fund
Past and current funding has supported:
- Stormwater mitigation projects
- Wastewater system replacement and repair
- Municipal water quality improvements
- Habitat restoration and shoreline buffers
- Education and outreach initiatives

Current Grant Opportunities
Stormwater runoff and failing and aging septic systems are two of the leading threats to Lake George’s water clarity and ecological health. The Lake George Association (LGA) offers grants to help property owners make improvements that reduce pollution and protect water quality.
Applications are currently being accepted for:
- Stormwater Property Owner Grants – Up to $10,000 for stormwater mitigation projects that reduce runoff
- Wastewater Homeowner Grants – Up to $10,000 for septic replacement or repairs for properties in the Lake George Park Commission's septic inspection program
These projects have been funded wholly or in part by the United States Environmental Protection Agency under assistance agreement (LC00A01141-0) to NEIWPCC in partnership with the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
We also thank the Wright Family Foundation for their generous donation to the Wastewater Homeowner Grants.
How It Works

- Complete your project (with guidance from LGA if needed).
- Submit documentation for approval.

About Septic Grants
- Up to $10,000 available for qualifying property owners to repair or replace failing or inadequate wastewater systems.
- Property must be located within the Lake George Park Commission Septic Inspection Program area (generally within 500 feet of Lake George or 100 feet of a regulated stream/tributary).
- Awards based on environmental and financial need; applications accepted on a rolling basis.
- Funding is reimbursement-based; projects must be completed before payment and receipts/documentation provided.

- Up to $10,000 available to residential and commercial property owners within the Lake George watershed.
