The Lake George Association looks forward to continuing to work with state agencies, local governments and communities across our watershed and beyond to ensure our freshwater resources remain protected, not just for today, but for generations who will define the next 250 years. As Governor Hochul rightly stated, “it is New Yorkers who light the way forward.” 

The Lake George Association LGA is seeking to fill a newly created Director of Government Relations position as the organization continues to expand its advocacy capacity and strengthen science-based policy solutions to protect the Lake George watershed. 

The LGA is expanding its on-the-ground research and monitoring efforts with the addition of a Seasonal Field Technician to support field-based science that helps protect Lake George’s water quality and clarity. 

The Lake George Association is proud to share that LGA President & CEO Dr. Brendan Wiltse,  Jefferson Project Director Dr. Kevin Rose and LGA Board Member Jim Siplon were featured in Spectrum News’ recent documentary, “Why Is the Largest State Park in the U.S. Failing Its Communities?” — a wide-reaching examination of the challenges and opportunities facing the Adirondack Park.

The Lake George Association is proud to celebrate the release of the Lake George Park Commission’s 2025 Boat Inspection Program Final Report, which once again demonstrates the effectiveness of one of the most robust, collaborative aquatic invasive species prevention programs in the nation.

Kayla Grant’s story is a powerful example of what it means to educate and inspire the next generation. In elementary school, Kayla participated in a Floating Classroom trip for the first time. Now, she’s studying Environmental Planning & Management at SUNY Plattsburgh, and credits her LGA Floating Classroom experience as the foundation for her scholarly and professional interests.

Doug and Pam Chase have been a part of the Lake George community for decades and are committed to protecting the Lake for future generations. Their story is one of stewardship, family and a deep connection to a clear and clean Lake George.

Expanded senior team reflects growing momentum, community trust and strong commitment to protect the Lake

Every sample tells a story about the health of Lake George. In 2025, the LGA’s science team was out on the water and in the watershed collecting the data that drives real protection.

This year, thousands of people across the Lake George region took action to protect the Lake, and we couldn’t be more inspired.

In 2025 alone, the Lake George Association reached more than 6,000 K–12 students and adults through hands-on learning, community events, citizen science and community programs that connect people directly to the Lake they love.

Protecting clean water across the Adirondack region requires collaboration, candid dialogue and science-based solutions. On November 6, LGA Executive Director Dr. Brendan Wiltse participated in the Adirondack Explorer’s public panel addressing phosphorous pollution and mitigation in the Lake Champlain Watershed, joining experts and community leaders to discuss one of the most pressing water-quality challenges facing New York.

Lake George Waterkeeper Chris Navitsky, P.E., represented the Lake George Association and the entire Lake George watershed on the national stage this month, sharing the science, solutions, advocacy and success stories that are helping protect one of America’s cleanest recreational lakes.

This holiday season, the Lake George Association invites local businesses to celebrate two powerful community moments — Small Business Saturday (November 30) and Giving Tuesday (December 3) — by partnering with us to protect the lake that sustains our community, our economy, and our way of life.

The Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC) recently featured the Lake George Association Executive Director Dr. Brendan Wiltse on its weekly radio show. 

In an effort to better track the presence of hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA) in the Lake George watershed, the Lake George Hemlock Coalition (LGHC) and Lake George Association (LGA) has made it easier for volunteers to report the forest pest. All LGH Coalition organizations are asking hunters, hikers, birders and other outdoor lovers in the Lake George watershed to help look for and report HWA.
