Lake George Association Releases 2025 Annual Report Celebrating 140 Years of Protection

Lake George, NY (July 30, 2026) – The Lake George Association (LGA) has released its 2025 Annual Report, a publication reflecting on 140 years of protecting Lake George’s world-renowned water quality and clarity while introducing a renewed vision for the future of freshwater conservation. The Report outlines how science, collaboration and advocacy have shaped the organization’s work since its founding in 1885, and how these same principles continue to guide efforts to protect Lake George today.  

Throughout 2025, the LGA celebrated its 140^th anniversary while developing its new 2026-2030 Strategic Plan. Built through months of collaboration among staff, Board members and community stakeholders, the Plan reinforces the organization’s role as the ‘Voice of the Lake’ by using science to understand emerging threats, developing practical solutions alongside partners, advocating for meaningful policy and engaging communities to ensure the enduring protection of Lake George. 

“Since 1885, each generation has protected Lake Geroge in its own way,” said LGA President & CEO Dr. Brendan Wiltse. “Our 2025 Annual Report reflects not only what we accomplished over the past year, but also the responsibility we all share to ensure future generations inherit a Lake that is as healthy, resilient and inspiring as the one we enjoy today.”  

Major 2025 initiatives highlighted in the 2025 Annual Report include celebrating ten years of the Lake George Road Salt Reduction Initiative and documenting measurable progress toward reducing chloride pollution; advancing leadership in aquatic invasive species prevention, research and management; investing in nutrient pollution solutions through wastewater infrastructure improvements and stormwater  mitigation projects; and continuing cutting-edge scientific monitoring through the Jefferson Project.  

The Report also recognizes all the dedicated individuals whose commitment to a clear and clean Lake George has made 140 years of lake protection possible, a commitment that continues to drive the LGA’s work forward. 

“For 140 years, the Lake George Association has brought people together around a shared purpose: protecting the Queen of American Lakes,” said LGA Board Chair Bill Creighton. “This Annual Report is a reminder that our greatest strength has always been our community. Together we’re building an even stronger future for Lake George, always speaking on its behalf. Together, we are the voice of the Lake.”
